Home Buyers Guide – Part 2

Part 2: Finding Your Home

Once you are pre-qualified by your mortgage lender, it is time to decide on which home you want. You’ve probably been thinking about it for awhile now, but it is most important to think about how you are going to use your home. Will your family be growing soon? Will you be empty nesters soon? Do you like to have lots of people over? Do you need lots of outside space? How about a garage or shop area? A home is a big investment and you want to make sure that you buy one that will fit you and your lifestyle for years to come.

An experienced, local realtor is invaluable when you are trying to find the perfect home for your family.

They can also help you find a house that might fit into some of the special programs that were mentioned back in Step 1. They will also have all the latest info about what homes are for sale and who might be more motivated to take a low offer.

Once you decide on a house, you will work with the mortgage lender again to make sure it qualifies for the type of loan you discussed and that you have the appropriate down payment available. If everything is in order, you and your realtor will submit an offer to the sellers.

Then you wait to hear if the sellers have accepted your offer so that you can move on to step 3 of the home buying process.
