How To Identify Counterfeit Bills
As long as there has been money, there have been people trying to make it themselves in the hopes of getting rich quick. As far back as 600 BC, people were using inferior metals to make coins and passing them off as the real thing. (This is where the idea of biting coins to see if they are real comes from.) Todays methods for creating counterfeit bills are far more sophisticated, but just as easy to catch. Some people simply throw their $20 bills into a cheap color copier while others try to turn a $10 bill into a $50 bill.
There are lots of different technologies that exist to help you spot counterfeit bills, from pens that identify the type of paper used to UV lights that identify the security strips hidden inside the bill, if you know what to look for, you don’t need any of those things.
Here is a handy infographic that explains how to spot a counterfeit bill using only your eyes and your fingertips.
